Parys graduated at Wits University in 2000. Since then her extensive CV includes work in Trauma & Orthopaedics, A&E, Private Practice and 5 years as Physio to the England u19 Women’s Football team. She has a special interest in sports injuries and has worked across all levels from weekend warriors to athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Sport has dominated her life, initially on the hockey field where she gained junior national caps for SA and Zimbabwe, and senior provincial colours for Eastern Cape, KZN and Southern Gauteng. One trial season with English Premier League team Leicester Hockey Club lead to five more with 3 league titles and 2 European Cup medals.
On retiring from hockey Parys tried her hand at triathlon. She went on to claim English National, British, European and two World Championship titles during the next 7 years. This prompted the step up to professional racing at the age of 38. Since then Parys has 5 professional wins and 20 podium finishes to her name, carving out a successful triathlon career while still working as a sports physio. Her clinical speciality is in treating all sports injuries particularly running injuries and correcting run biomechanics.
Parys treats from the Old Parks Sports Club.
Parys is by far the best sports physiotherapist I’ve seen. She has helped me on many occasions and her treatments have allowed me to race competitively when I would otherwise have been sidelined. She is extremely knowledgable and very thorough in her work.
Parys has been an enduring supporter to me over the years through too many injuries to count, including acute and chronic Achilles injuries to a broken collarbone. She is empowering, passionate, and has an overwhelming 'can do' attitude. Her knowledges as a physio, combined with her background as a fun loving professional triathlete makes her the ideal person to help athletes get stronger and faster, to manage niggles and to be able to race injury free for longer.
Parys comes with a mountain of international experience, specifically in the area of diagnosis and injury prevention. it comes across immediately that she loves what she does and has genuine concern for her patients, helping them along their journey. Truly an expert in her field.
